I'm sorry I haven't posted in forever. I had an upheaval that culminated in me resigning from my job effective at the end of this school year. I just haven't had time to deal with anything else. I have since left the black place that my brain had gone to and am doing better. I got my kit mailed off on Wednesday so hopefully my swap partner will receive it soon.

My Awesome Spoiler

When I arrived home from class yesterday I had the most wonderful package waiting for me. It was my sock kit sent via owl from Gryffindor's Lily Durmstrang. She is the most awesomest spoiler ever. The kit contained a beautiful hank of "Rowena" from Tempted, a colorway she had designed just for me!!!! A chocolate frog, who has already met his demise, a new addi turbo needle, a nail file with yarn on it, a wand cozy, beautiful stitch markers, a great bag, two patterns, a mini sock blocker key chain, a snap together model of Hogwarts, and a time turner. I'll have pictures soon. My camera has died, but I'm getting a new one today after class. If I forgot anything it is just because there was so much cool stuff.

Wow, its been quite a week. I also ended up pretty ill early this week. I'm just starting to feel close to 100% again. Even without homework I feel like I just don't have enough hours in the day. I did get my spoilee's bag finished, needles and yarn purchased, stitch markers made, and one extra goodie finished. Now I just have to find a few small things, like a pattern, and get it all mailed off to her. I have also gotten a lot of progress done on my current sock project. I'm making my self some simple K2P2 ribbed socks out of Lorna's Laces in Tuscany. The first sock is striping beautifully I just hope the second one works out as well. I've made a change from normal by working these socks on DPNs, I'm usually a magic loop girl, but I got sucked in by Lantern Moon and their rosewood US#1 sock needles. They are just so pretty and fun to work with. I was a little worried at first because they are not pointy at all, but it hasn't been a problem. I'm working these from the toe up so I can just knit until I'm out of yarn. I think I'm going to get some pretty tall socks. When I finish up I'll try and post some pictures of them here.

Crazy, Crazy Weather

I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I'm tired of this crazy weather, first its warm, then it's snowing. In the same day. I can't deal with all of these temperature changes, my poor internal thermometer is totally confused. I don't know whether to be warm or cold. I'm sure I'll end up sick after this fiasco. I just want to know who is experimenting with the weather spells. I'd like to take their wand away right now.

On a more excited note, Quidditch starts today. I am so excited. I don't get to be a seeker this time, but I'm going to try my hand at the trivia questions. I do so love a good trivia challenge.

I will be gone from Hogwarts for an extended period of time. I am going to a muggle music convention. My parents arranged it long ago. I am very excited. There should be lots of singing and hand drumming. Unfortunately it means I will be without my owl until Monday. I finally have a chance to catch up on my week here. I haven't gotten anything done since turning in my homework. I still have the same sock on my needles. I had to leave the common room right before knit nite for a meeting and missed the crazy person. I'm kind of bummed I think crazy is a little funny. I also had a run in with Peeves. He was trying to hit students with ink pellets again. I did get to see a Slytherin get nailed with one though. Quite funny. Well, I have a long weekend so I plan on getting lots of homework and knitting done. I won't be able to be reached, by owl or otherwise, until Tuesday next. I finally got my owl telling me who my sock swap partner is today. I'm making a kit for a first year Gryffindor. I have no idea what I'm going to put in my kit, but I do have the bag planned if nothing else. On top of all my lessons I don't know when I'm going to find time to send off an owl to get the supplies. Sometimes I wish I was a 4th year so I could go into Hogsmead. I do almost have the sock I'm working on finished. It is out of Cat Bordhi's first pathways book. She may be a muggle, but she sure does make knitting magic. I'm using a really neat yarn too. I really perfer to work with sport weight so that I can use a size 2 or 3 needle and still get a nice firm fabric. This sock is made of Phildar Auteuil in colour z104. It is knitting up very prettily. Well I'm off to finish my Transfiguration homework. I swear I'm drowning in parchment most nights.

My First Sock Kit Swap

I am so excited. Last night in the common room I heard Fleur Lovegoods talking about a sock kit swap. I'm all signed up and waiting to put my kit together, I just have to figure out what color yarn I need to find. I did get the best present over Christmas Holiday.
